Moods
In addition to tenses, English verbs are divided into moods, which show the writer’s attitude toward what he or she is saying. The first two moods, indicative and imperative, are not confusing at all and are used far more frequently than the third mood, the subjunctive.
Almost all verbs are used in the indicative mood, which means that the sentence using the verb states a fact or an actuality. All of these sentences are in the indicative mood:
I’ll be seeing you later on today. We’ll go to the park with our friends and then have a picnic when we get hungry. The cook will pack a meal in the wicker basket. All of us will enjoy ourselves.
